The police say that they yesterday intercepted three persons at the western end of the Demerara Harbour Bridge with a variety of goods which were later identified as having been stolen during two Canal No.1 robberies.

In a statement, the police said that at around 3.30 am, a police team commanded by a Sergeant, was conducting a stop and search exercise on the Meer-Zorgen Public Road, West Bank Demerara (Western End of the Harbour Bridge). They stopped and searched a yellow wagon motorcar, its driver and two occupants (all males) and found a laptop, ear-pieces, four cellular phones, an Amazon tablet, an assortment of jewels, a Guyana Passport, local and foreign currencies and other items.

The vehicle and suspects were escorted to the nearby La Grange Police Station where minutes later, two reports of breakages in the Canal # 1 Polder, West Bank Demerara area were reported and the victims, both female educators, positively identified the aforementioned items as their property.
