Leguan farmer, 69, found dead

The lifeless body of a 69-year-old farmer was discovered floating in the Atlantic Ocean in the vicinity of La Bagatelle, Leguan Island early yesterday morning.

Dead is George Dove, of Lot 1 La Bagatelle, Leguan Island and police have told Sunday Stabroek that it is suspected that he drowned.

The discovery was made around 6.45 am by a villager.

Dove’s body was retrieved from the water and he was rushed to the Leguan Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

There was a visible wound to his head.

His wife, Ann Ramroach, a security guard, has reportedly told the police that on the morning of November 20th, Dove left home for his farm, which is located at Parika Backdam.  The woman added that Dove would normally spend about two to three weeks there before he returned home.

His body is currently at the hospital mortuary awaiting a post-mortem examination.
