NGO hosts ‘Orange the Runway’ fashion, advocacy show

In observance of the ongoing international 16 days of activism against Gender-Based Violence (GBV) campaign, the Heart to Art Foundation is slated to debut its charity event, Orange the Runway: Volume 1, a fashion, awards and advocacy show today.

The mandate of the Heart to Art Foundation is to combat mental illness through the arts. According to a press release from the organising committee, the event, which is scheduled for 3 pm today at the Herdmanston Lodge, in Georgetown, is aimed at raising awareness of GBV in Guyana and the Caribbean, as well as providing funding for groups which seek to reduce and eliminate GBV and other social ills.

Today’s show will see local activists being honoured and awarded for their work in GBV prevention advocacy, as well as show support to survivors of GBV.

The fashion aspect of the show will be headlined by the designs of British Virgin Islander Andrea Wilson, Isaiah Luther, Rhoda Dox, and also feature pieces from other Guyanese designers and local boutiques.

International model, Juanita Bledman is also expected to grace the event.

Patrons will be allowed entry from as early as 1pm.
