Cook remanded after ganja found at home during police raid

Jermaine Charles

A cook was on Monday remanded to prison until the new year after a city court heard that he was found with a quantity of bagged cannabis in his home during a police raid. It is alleged that Jermaine Charles, 27, on December 8th, 2018, at Rosemary Lane, had 88 grammes of cannabis in his possession for trafficking.

Charles, who was represented by attorney Paul Fung-A-Fat, pleaded not guilty to the charge, which was read to him by Magistrate Fabayo Azore in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.

According to Prosecutor Arvin Moore, Charles’s home was raided by police and small zip lock bags containing the suspected cannabis were found in an old gas stove.  Charles was subsequently remanded to prison until January 21st, when his next hearing will be held.
