Police sergeant Joseph Elton Ambrose remains warded in a serious condition at a city hospital, days after his motor car crashed into a parked lorry along the Herstelling Public Road, East Bank Demerara.

A source yesterday told Stabroek News that Ambrose remains unconscious and has not since shown any sign of improvement.

He is currently a patient in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Georgetown Public Hospital.

The accident had occurred minutes before midnight on  Sunday while Ambrose, 42, a resident of Herstelling, EBD was heading home.

The police had said that investigations had revealed that Ambrose was driving motor car PMM 9099 north along the western carriageway of the Public Road, allegedly at a fast rate when he lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the rear of motor lorry GLL 5592.

At the time, the motor lorry was “properly parked”, the statement added.

Ambrose was taken out of the wrecked car and rushed to the Diamond Hospital before he was transferred to the GPH.
