A 37-year-old man was taken into custody on Thursday after police intercepted his car and found 12 pounds of cannabis concealed in the trunk.
The discovery was made around 8.20 pm during an intelligence-led operation coordinated by a senior officer.
A press release from the Guyana Police Force said that the car was intercepted along the Grove Public Road, on the East Bank of Demerara, where a search was conducted and the sealed parcels of cannabis were found.
The suspect driver, a resident of Westminster, La Parfaite Harmonie, West Bank Demerara, is being processed for court.
