Cop stabbed, relieved of service weapon at city club

The police up to press time last evening were looking for the persons who injured and relieved a policeman of his service weapon while he was at a city nightclub.

In a press release, the Guyana Police Force said that the incident occurred around 1 am yesterday at a club located in Second Street, Alberttown.

The club was not named.

The rank, according to the release, sustained injuries to his head, stomach and hands and is presently warded at a city medical institution in a stable condition.

Sunday Stabroek has since learnt that the rank was stabbed. “Stringent efforts are being made to recover the weapon and apprehend the suspects, one of whom, is known,” the release added.
