Bail for businessman charged over police assault, resisting arrest

A businessman charged with assaulting a police officer, was granted bail on Friday by a city court.

Forty-one-year-old Lance Walker was accused of assaulting officer, Jermaine Dookhoo, on December 13, 2018, at Dookhoo’s residence in Georgetown. Walker was also charged with resisting arrest following the alleged assault.

The accused pleaded not guilty to both charges when he appeared before Magistrate Leron Daly, and was subsequently granted $20,000 bail on the assault charge and $10,000 bail on the charge of resisting apprehension.

The matter was adjourned until January 14, 2019.
