Man robbed at knife point after asking for directions

A man who asked for directions was robbed at knife point at Grove, East Bank Demerara, a magistrate’s court yesterday heard.

Tejnauth Ramkissoon, 24, (no address provided) on December 15th, 2018, at Jimbo Street, Grove, East Bank Demerara, while being armed with a knife, allegedly robbed Ramesh Seenarine of a cellular phone valued $32,000 and $57,000 cash, a  total value of $89,200.

Ramkissoon pleaded not guilty to the charge read against him by Magistrate Faith Mc Gusty at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court. He was later remanded.

According to the Prosecutor’s facts, Seenarine came out of the interior to contact his relatives but he was not familiar with the area. He chose Ramkissoon, who was among others, to ask for directions when one of the young men asked him for $200. As he pulled out the money, Ramkissoon pointed the knife at his head and told him to hand over the rest of the money and his phone.

Ramkissoon was remanded to prison and was told to return to court on January 7th, 2018 for his next hearing.
