Carpenter found with cannabis fined, sentenced to community service

A carpenter was fined $20,000 yesterday after he pleaded guilty to a possession of narcotics charge, which was read against him at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.

Raymond Dookhoo, 49, appeared before Magistrate Faith McGusty yesterday at the city court. It was alleged that he, on December 14, was found with 10 grammes of cannabis in his possession at Phoenix Park, West Bank Demerara.

Dookhoo, a father of three, pleaded guilty to the charge and was fined $20,000 and ordered to serve seven days of community service.
