Industry man, friend shot, robbed after leaving bank

An auto-body worker and his friend are now nursing gunshot wounds at the Georgetown Public Hospital after they were trailed from a bank and robbed by an armed bandit yesterday.

According to information reaching Stabroek News, Danniram Kissoon, who owns a vehicle workshop in Industry was returning home from a bank on the East Coast after withdrawing a sum of money in the company of a friend who has since been identified as a doctor.

After conducting his transaction at the Bank, Kissoon returned home sometime after 12 pm, when a grey Toyota Premio, which is suspected to have trailed them from the Bank, pulled up alongside him with two men, one of whom was armed with a gun.

The armed bandit rushed out of his car and approached Kissoon and demanded cash while pointing the gun at him. After Kissoon refused to yield, the bandit opened fire  hitting both Kissoon and his friend. The bandit then quickly relieved the man of the cash, which was said to be over $400,000 and made his escape with the other bandit.

Kissoon’s father, who was at home at the time, rushed out and saw his son and his friend injured. The two men were then rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital where they remain hospitalised.
