Corentyne soldier fatally stabbed

A Corentyne soldier was last evening fatally stabbed in Philippi Village, Corentyne.

Dead is Lieutenant Mark Bagot, 26, of Philippi Village, Corentyne.

According to information gathered, the suspect identified as “Son”, of Black Bush Polder and the deceased were both present at a shop in the village.

Minutes after 9 pm, they were involved in a heated argument over the purchasing of a drink, which became physical.

Stabroek News was told that Bagot sustained a stab in his neck.

He was rushed to the Port Mourant Hospital and then transferred to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital, where he succumbed just after midnight.

The police in Berbice are presently on the hunt for the suspect.
