(Jamaica Observer) The police are reporting that a man is now in custody in relation to the murder of a British-Jamaican woman, whose body was found in a shallow grave yesterday after investigations revealed inconsistencies in a missing person’s report he filed for her.

The woman is 43-year-old Karen Cleary-Brown, a beautician of Paradise Edge in Boscobel, St Mary and a Pentonville Road address in London, England.

Reports from the police’s Corporate Communications Unit (CCU) are that on Sunday, November 25, inconsistencies were detected in a missing person report filed for Cleary-Brown by the suspect, causing detectives to immediately widen and intensify their investigation.

The CCU said that this led to them carrying out investigations at her home in Boscobel, where her decomposing body was found in a shallow grave about 5:30 pm yesterday.

The suspect was taken into custody however; his identity is being withheld pending further investigations.

The CCU said the Chaplaincy Unit and the Community Safety and Security Branch in Area 2 have been tasked to offer grief counselling to family members and friends of the deceased.
