Panama musician arrested for ganja at Jamaican airport

(Jamaica Observer) A musician from Panama was arrested and charged with several breaches of the Dangerous Drug Act after he was nabbed with several pounds of ganja at the Sangster International Airport in St James yesterday.

The musician, 53-year-old Maurice Larman from Panama City, was charged with possession of ganja, dealing in ganja and attempting to export ganja.

Reports are that about 11:45 am Larman was about to board a flight, destined to Panama, when his suitcase was searched in his presence.

During the search, a false compartment containing six packages of ganja weighing approximately seven-and-a-half pounds was found.

He was arrested for the drug which is said to have an estimated street value of J$30,000.

Larman is scheduled to appear before the St James Parish Court on Wednesday, December 19.
