Trinidad: One arrested, one injured in shooting at Movietowne

(TRINIDAD EXPRESS) Movietowne Port of Spain was the scene of a shooting on Wednesday.

Police say that at around 6p.m. the victim was involved in an altercation outside the mall’s casino.

The victim left the scene, visited a pharmacy and was walking towards the parking lot outside PriceSmart when five men confronted him.

Gunfire erupted after an argument and the victim, shot in the leg, ran towards the casino where many of the armed mall security guards are stationed.

The gang involved in the shooting fled, but mall surveillance footage discovered that the vehicle they had arrived in, was left behind.

About an hour after the shooting, someone returned to the vehicle and attempted to leave with it.

He was chased by police and arrested.

The victim was taken to hospital. His condition is not considered life threatening.

In July, a man jumped the counter at the concession area of Movietowne, Port of Spain and stabbed an employee.

In February 2017, a man knifed to death restaurant employee Jamilia de Revenaux at Moveitowne, Port of Spain.
