(Trinidad Express) Hate Preacher Anjem Choudary has been declared a terrorist in Trinidad and Tobago.

An application made by the Attorney General for a declaratory order under the Anti-Terrorism Act came up for hearing yesterdaymorning before Justice Frank Seepersad at the San Fernando High Court.

The judge ordered that that Choudary, a UK national who is currently incarcerated in a UK jail, be declared a listed entity for the purpose of the Anti-Terrorist Act and that property owned or controlled by him or derived or generated from funds or other assets owned and controlled directly by him be frozen.

The United Nations Security Council has listed Choudary who is also known as Abu Luqman as a terrorist individual.

The committee oversees sanctions measures imposed by the Security Council in respect of ISIL, Al-Qaida and associated individuals, group undertakings and entities.

Individuals listed by the committee are subject to travel ban, an arms embargo and an asset freeze.

He was imprisoned in the United Kingdom in September 2014 with a tentative release from the Frankland Prison in United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, in October 2018.
