Solider survives Tobago highway crash, then killed by drag racers

Killed: McKeon Eastman

(TRINIDAD EXPRESS) Private McKeon Eastman, of the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force, died on Sunday morning in a bizarre incident in Lowlands, Tobago.

Eastman, a father of six, was driving a yellow Nissan B14 along Claude Noel Highway, travelling east to west near Gulf City Mall in Lowlands, when he hit a guardrail.

Upon impact, he was thrown from the vehicle, but was still alive.

A grey van pulled alongside his body to caution approaching motorists.

But two cars, which were drag-racing, drove over Eastman, causing massive injuries.

The drivers of those vehicles did not stop.

Eastman’s father, taxi driver Milton Eastman, and other relatives visited the crash scene, where loud screams were heard upon them viewing his body.

The elder Eastman described his son as always jovial.

District medical officer Dr Fidelis Okali ordered the body removed to the Scarborough mortuary.
