Trinidad: Father and son charged for beating neighbour with shotgun

(Trinidad Express) A father and his son have been jointly charged with assault and wounding with intent against their neighbour.

They are due to appear before the Sangre Grande Magistrates’ Court on Monday.

Gregory Ifill, a 66-year-old retiree and his 35-year-old son Fabien Ifill, both of Duranta Gardens, Sangre Grande, were arrested and charged arising out of an incident last Thursday.

Around 9:50a.m. the 50-year-old victim was at his home when he observed a man standing in his doorway pointing a shotgun at him.

The victim held on to the barrel of the gun. There was a struggle and both men ended up in the victim’s yard.

While there, another man approached the men, grabbed the shot gun and proceeded to beat the victim about the body with the gun.

Officers attached to the Sangre Grande Emergency Response Patrol arrived.

The suspects were arrested and the victim was taken to the Sangre Grande General Hospital for treatment.

Sgt. Edwards, of the Sangre Grande CID, jointly charged both men with wounding with intent.

Gregory Ifill faces an additional charge of common assault.
