Trinidad: Family on firearm, ammo possession charges

(Trinidad Guardian) A fam­i­ly of three has ap­peared in the the San­gre Grande Mag­is­trates’ Court charged with pos­ses­sion of a firearm and am­mu­ni­tion.

The Po­lice Ser­vice said Clint Ramkissoon, 39; his wife Taslimah Meighoo Ramkissoon, 23; and

his broth­er Daniel Ramkissoon, 37, all of To­co Main Road, Matu­ra, stood be­fore Se­nior Mag­is­trate Gillian Scot­land to an­swer the charges.

Clint Ramkissoon and his wife plead­ed not guilty and were grant­ed $50,000 and $55,000 bail with sure­ty re­spec­tive­ly while Daniel Ramkissoon plead­ed guilty and was re­mand­ed in­to cus­tody.

He is due to to reap­pear be­fore a mag­is­trate to­day.

The Ramkissoons were ar­rest­ed fol­low­ing a search war­rant be­ing ex­e­cut­ed at their home dur­ing an an­ti-crime ex­er­cise con­duct­ed be­tween Fri­day and Sat­ur­day.

Dur­ing the ex­er­cise of­fi­cers of the East­ern Di­vi­sion Task Force (EDTF) con­duct­ed a search of a home in the Matu­ra dis­trict, where they dis­cov­ered one home­made shot­gun and 11 rounds of 16-gauge am­mu­ni­tion.

Charges were laid by PC Treava­jo, of the EDTF.

Both Clint and Taslimah Ramkissoon are due to reap­pear in court on De­cem­ber 13.
