Trinidad cop charged with holding woman, son at gunpoint

(Trinidad Guardian) A Po­lice Con­sta­ble at­tached to the In­ter-Agency Task Force (IATF) is cur­rent­ly in po­lice cus­tody af­ter be­ing charged with two counts of com­mon as­sault and ob­struc­tion of jus­tice.

The Po­lice Ser­vice said PC An­ge­lo Ce­de­no, 40, was ar­rest­ed and charged yes­ter­day at the IATF Base fol­low­ing ad­vice re­ceived from the Di­rec­tor of Pub­lic Pros­e­cu­tions, Roger Gas­pard, SC.

The charges arose from sep­a­rate in­ci­dents which oc­curred be­tween De­cem­ber, 2017 and No­vem­ber, 2018. PC Ce­de­no is al­leged to have phys­i­cal­ly as­sault­ed and threat­ened the lives of a woman and her son at gun point, at the vic­tim’s home.

A re­port was made to the Pro­fes­sion­al Stan­dards Bu­reau (PSB), which re­port­ed­ly re­sult­ed in the ac­cused re­peat­ed­ly phys­i­cal­ly and ver­bal­ly abus­ing the vic­tim, and de­mand­ing that she drop the charges.

Charges were laid by act­ing Cpl Mar­shall, of the PSB, and en­quiries are con­tin­u­ing
