Three months after taxi driver Matthew Munroe was charged with the murder of Kescia Branche, the police yesterday reported to a city court that the investigation is still incomplete.
The charge against Munroe alleges that on November 7th, 2017, at Georgetown, he murdered Kescia Branche.
When the matter was called yesterday before Principal Magistrate Judy Latchman in the city, the prosecutor stated that the investigation was still incomplete but assured that the police will be in a position to serve statements by the next court date.
Magistrate Latchman subsequently adjourned the matter until March 27th, when the statements are expected to be served, thereby allowing for the preliminary inquiry into the charge to begin.
Munroe’s attorney previously asked for the disclosure of the calls, times of the calls and the location of the nearest tower for the uplink and downlink for calls made by Munroe and his customers as well as alleged calls made between him and Branche and a copy of the video footage showing the time that he crossed the Demerara Harbour Bridge, a copy of the interview conducted by the police with Munroe, the post-mortem examination report, the pathologist’s notes, the photographs of the deceased and imprints of tire marks on the deceased’s body.
Branche, 22, a mother of one and a teacher at Richard Ishmael Secondary School, was found on November 5th along Cemetery Road, obliquely opposite the cemetery office, sometime around 5 am. She succumbed to her injuries on November 7th in the Intensive Care Unit of the Georgetown Public Hospital.
