All is not well in paradise

Dear Editor,

The snub to the Advisor, the hollow explanation offered for the no-show of the featured speaker (was it a boycott?) which sounded like the barrel was scraped to find a plausible reason and the call for the media to boycott coverage of the premier oil and gas event, tells that all is certainly not well in paradise.

Yours faithfully,

Shamshun Mohamed

Dear Editor, With the passing on Saturday of Dr. Mohammed Shahabuddeen, O.E., O.R, CCH  the world has lost one of its most eminent jurists and Guyana a son of unmatched legal brilliance.

Profoundly concerned about Town Clerk King’s understanding of the workings of Chap 28:01, general domestic law

Dear Editor, The Town Clerk’s letter of February 16, 2018 in SN, `As Town Clerk I only act on the basis of legal authority’ is  yet another demonstration of his disqualification for office.

Political leaders on both sides need to take responsibility for the current oil and gas agreements

Dear Editor, The media need to be commended for its continuous effort in bringing to the Guyanese people the truth as it relates to the contracts signed by the Government of Guyana with the oil companies.

Letter by Councillor Kuppen is riddled with inaccuracies

Dear Editor, Please refer to a letter which appeared in the Saturday, February 17, of Stabroek News captioned ‘Town Clerk is in control with the blessing of the Mayor and some Councillors.’ As we examined the contents of the letter written by the Councillor, we recognized that it is riddled with inaccuracies and it is not a true representation of the facts.

Impressed by publication on early childhood development

Dear Editor, Influenced as I am and have been since my early career as a school teacher that the focus of our basic educational pursuits should be both academic and attitudinal, I was recently impressed by a publication I chanced upon in my daughter’s home in Toronto (she herself is a School Superintendent with the Toronto District School Board).
