What happened to the missing steel?

Dear Editor,

I would like to reference an unresolved matter that was raised by the Stabroek News in July 2016 under a new item captioned “Gov’t still awaiting word from Health Ministry on BK $800M steel claims”.

In that report Minister Harmon clearly promised the nation that he would report to the nation based on the outcome of the investigation.  It has been two years now and the nation is yet to hear from Mr. Harmon on this matter.

At stake was steel worth some G$800 million, which is the property of the people of Guyana.  My understanding is that this steel has vanished and this disappearing act happened in 2016 under this APNU+AFC regime, which claimed in 2015 that they were going to bring back good governance to the land.  Where is the evidence of such measures?

What I found rather strange, although this was publicly reported upon in both the Kaieteur News and Stabroek News, the 2016 Auditor General Report had not one word to say on this matter and very few words in the prior year.

I am humbly calling on the media to engage Mr. Harmon on this matter.

 Yours faithfully,

 Sasenarine Singh
