The Guyana Police Force is responding to an article in Thursday’s edition of the Kaieteur News under the caption “Ogle airport trace robbery…. Second car found with police radio sets inside”.
Please be advised that indeed two radio sets were found in the vehicle in question; one of the devices is a base set similar in appearance to those used by the Guyana Police Force and the other a “talk about” which is not used by the police but rather in stores, businesses and construction sites, and accessible for sale over-the-counter.
The base set was thoroughly tested and analyzed by ranks of the Force’s Communications Branch and was not found to be programmed with the frequency and encryption that would allow it to intercept police network; neither is it the property of the Guyana Police Force.
The Force therefore takes umbrage at the insinuation made in the article and wishes that the reporter would seek clarification in the future before publishing such erroneous and misleading articles.
