The statement by Volda Lawrence that “The only friends I got is PNC, so the only people I could give work to is PNC’ refers. This is a most despicable and vile statement by a Government Minister in which she says that as a Minister she is only giving governmental jobs and contracts to party supporters, and it ought to warrant her immediate dismissal. In an ethnically polarised society like Guyana it is even more reprehensible as it means that one ethnic grouping [as opposed to the occasional token individual] is being given priority over others.
I am no supporter of the PPP but any alleged “thievery” by them pales into utter insignificance as compared to the theft of racial harmony which this most contemptible statement represents.
