It seems that I am a simpleton.
Last week, I suggested in the SN that the next step for Guyana was as easy as ABC
a. The Government loses a vote of confidence by however small a majority
b. General Elections are held within 90 days.
c. The Government continues fully to govern until re-elected or a new government is elected
None of that is the science of propulsion. Why do the politicians of Guyana – on all sides – complicate the simple.
I spoke too soon. Throw in AGs, ex AGs, other assorted lawyers, past Presidents, big political egos, Uncle Tom Cobble and the simple gets, er, very complicated. It was ever thus.
d. When is a majority of 33 out of 65 not a majority? Do the math. Forget Vanuatu (wherever that is Basil ..)
e. What were the motives of Mr Persaud, the Speaker, even the Clerk of the National Assembly in framing and declaring the result?
Hard to follow? You could not make this up could you?
