GDF move top of Elite League point’s standings

The Guyana Defence Forde (GDF) Friday climbed atop the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) Elite League points standings after edging Den Amstel 2-1 at the Georgetown Football Club (GFC) ground, Bourda.

Amumchi Benjamin bagged a second half brace in the 61st and 88th minute of the hard-fought win. For Den Amstel, Delon Lanferman found the back of the net in the 69th minute. Meanwhile, Western Tigers leapt into second place, edging fierce rival Fruta Conquerors 2-1. Colin Nelson and Andrew Murray Jr scored in the 42nd and 53rd minute respectively while Gregory Richardson netted for Conquerors in the 47th minute. Action in the event continues today at the Buxton Community Centre Ground.

In the opening fixture at 16:00hrs, Cougars FC battles Ann’s Grove while Victoria Kings will tackle Buxton United from 18:00hrs.

The competition continues on Thursday at the Mackenzie Sports Club (MSC) ground, Linden with New Amsterdam (NA) United engaging Ann’s Grove from 19:00hrs while GDF will battle Milerock at 21:00hrs.

On Saturday at the No. #5 ground, Berbice, Milerock will lock horns with Cougars FC from 18:00hrs while NA United will match skills with Den Amstel at 20:00hrs.
