Power failure forces football match to be abandoned

A power failure at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue, forced an abandonment of the group fixture between defending champion Chase Academy and Annandale in their Milo Secondary School Football Championships yesterday.

The power failure occurred at the halftime interval with Chase Academy firmly in control leading  3-0 following goals from Jeremy Garrett, Stephon Reynolds and Nicholas McArthur in the seventh, 22nd and 33rd minute respectively.

According to the coordinators, the match will be replayed at another date. Meanwhile, the Business School edged Charlestown 2-1 in another group fixture. Jermin Padmore scored in the 27th minute, while an own goal in the 68th minute helped seal the win.

For Charlestown, Raymond Budhai scored in the 64th minute. The event continues on Sunday at the same venue with four matches.
