President’s College A defeats St Rose’s 21-0 at YBG tourney

Marian Academy, President’s College and Mackenzie High School won matches in their respective divisions when the Youth Basketball Guyana (YBG) ‘Five Challenge Series’ commenced yesterday at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall, Homestretch Avenue.

In the U14 boys section, Kwakwani Secondary defeated Bishops’ High 13-4 with Lebron Kissoon, the top scorer with five points.

In another encounter, Marian Academy edged YBG-B 12-11 with Alistair Phyll the top scorer with five points.

Meanwhile, Marian Academy-A downed President’s College 9-5 with Lenar Austin scoring four points.

In the U16 division, President’s College needled Marian Academy 14-13 with Jeremiah Johnson netting five points.

Bishops’ High went down to St. Rose’s 12-14 as Kahil Farrinton tallied six points for the winners while Christ Church, led by a four-point effort from Tyrese James, edged Mackenzie High 6-5.

In the girls division, Marian Academy crushed Tutorial High 25-4 with Jahrier Young tallying eight points while Mackenzie High dismissed President’s College-B 9-0 with Rasheba Cornell scoring four points.

YBG-A crushed St. Rose’s High 19-2 with Jada Mohan scoring six points while President’s College-A swamped St. Rose’s 21-0 as Saffiya Green netted seven points.

In the Past Students division, Mackenzie High-A downed St. Stanislaus 17-15 with Parish Cadogan top scoring with seven points while Marian Academy-A crushed Mackenzie High-B 28-14.

Selvaughn Moseley netted 12 points. The event concludes today at the same venue.
