DCC trounce Malteenoes in rain-affected match 

A star-studded Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) line up defeated archrivals the Malteenoes Cricket Club (MCC) by 79 runs in the latest round of the New Building Society (NBS) 40-overs second division tournament yesterday at DCC.

The match, which  was affected by rain and had to be reduced to 20 overs a side, saw DCC after winning the toss, pilling on 209 for the loss of five wickets from their allotted 20 overs.   West Indies under – 16 skipper Sachin Singh led the way with a blistering 87 while Raymond Perez in his first match back from his West Indies under – 19 assignment, contributed 53.   Shaquelle Mosley’s 3-37 from four overs was the pick of the bowlers for the Thomas lands unit who in their turn at the crease only managed 130 – 5 when their overs allotted expired.

Clarence Baird led the way with a 23-ball 42 while Mosley returned to post 32 in his side failed run chase.   Keanu Harry (2-12) and Ashmead Nedd (1-14) – another West Indies under – 19 player – led DCC’s stifling bowling effort.
