GDF hammer Cougars 5-0 to move atop Elite League standings

x Guyana Defence Force [GDF] took the top spot in the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) ‘Elite League’ tournament after hammering cellar occupant Cougars FC 5-0  Thursday at the Camp Ayanganna ground, Vlissengen Road.

The unbeaten home side secured control of the contest in the first half  compliments of a 2-0 lead.

Amos Ramsay opened the scoring in the 23rd minute while Delroy Fraser doubled the lead with a 28th minute conversion.

GDF continued their dominance in the second half as Delwyn Fraser made it 3-0 in the 63rd minute. Fraser made his presence felt once more, completing his double 10 minutes later while Delroy Fraser applied the finishing touch to a dominant performance with an 85th minute strike, relegating the Berbice unit to their fifth straight loss.

Meanwhile, Ann’s Grove and Den Amstel battled to a scoreless draw in the opening fixture. The tournament resumes tomorrow at the same venue.

In the opening fixture, New Amsterdam [NA] United opposes Victoria Kings at 18:00hrs, while Milerock battles Buxton United from 20:30hrs.
