West Indies A and Guyana Jaguars attacking left-handed batsman, Chandrapaul Hemraj is eager to rub shoulders with the best in the world as he joins an illustrious squad with the St. Lucia Stars for the upcoming 2018 Caribbean Premier League (CPL).

The 24 year-old who has been in tremendous form recently told Stabroek Sport in an exclusive interview that in the upcoming tournament he is looking to make his name known to the world.

“I am really excited to be selected by the St. Lucia Stars and I’m looking forward to rubbing shoulders with some of the best players around,” Hemraj said.

Already a force to reckon with in the longer format, Hemraj, who hails from the East Coast of Demerara, will make his debut in the CPL.

The opener added that he believes he will adopt well to this format since his style of play is suited for the “Biggest party in sport.”

A destructive batsman, Hemraj wastes little time at the crease as was shown in the recent Regional Super50 tournament where he smacked five sixes striking close to 130 on his way to 80.

The former West Indies Under-19 batsman is also handy with the ball, puzzling batsman with his off-spin.

Hemraj said he will be happy for the experience of playing under the leadership and experience of players like Darren Sammy and Kieron Pollard, both having led respective T20 champion teams in the past.

Hemraj was snapped up by the St. Lucia Stars at the CPL draft on Thursday in London for $5,000 USD, going in the 13th round while 11 other Guyanese were picked in the CPL draft.
