Former Member of Parliament, Trevor Williams, was on Sunday re-elected president of the Demerara Volleyball Association (DVA) when that body held its elections of office bearers at the PYARG ‘President Youth Award Guyana Building.

Williams defeated Marlon Pearson by five votes to two to seal his return to the helm.

He will lead the newly installed Executive Committee which comprises Vice-President, Trevor Smith, Secretary, Jana Edghill, Treasurer, Ashley Balley, Assistant Secretary, Odile Broomes and Public Relations Officer, Irie Cadogan.

The previous executive,  under Williams’ stewardship, won kudos for a number of initiatives with the DVA serving off the first ever male and female `A’ division volleyball league in Georgetown,  while adopting Bartica as an affiliate sub-association to participate in tournaments organized by the DVA.

Off significance as well, was the DVA’s efforts to reintroduce volleyball to the mining town of Linden after an absence of over two decades.

Linden now has three active volleyball clubs who benefit from all DVA organized tournaments and other initiatives.
