Lord, Forester propel GCC to first innings over GYO

A clinical spell of left-arm spin bowling from skipper Devon Lord helped guide the Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) to first innings points over the Gandhi Youth Organization (GYO) in the Noble House Seafoods/Georgetown Cricket Association, two-day, second-division competition at the GYO ground yesterday.

GCC, in reply to GYO’s 137 all out, ended the day on 143 for 2, off 23 overs, to claim first innings honours at stumps on day one.

Opener Winston Forester top scored with 72 an innings which included   13 fours and a six.

Forrester shared in a century stand with Khemraj Jaikarran (28).

The day began with GCC winning the toss and inviting the hosts to take the first strike.

West Indies under – 19 fast bowler Ronaldo Ali – Mohammed (4-55), took the first four wickets to fall while Utom Munroe hammered 75 with  14 fours and a six.

Lord then claimed the remaining six wickets to end with 6-25 from 6.3 overs. Surendra Hiralal (22) was the only other batsman to reach double figures for the host.
