Rain washes out second day’s play

Rain prevented further play in what was panning out to be a gripping battle between defending champions Demerara and Berbice on day two of their Hand-in-Hand Mutual Fire and Life Insurance/Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) U19 Inter-County three-day competition at  the Lusignan Community Development Centre ground, yesterday.

Berbice had ended day one on 105 – 5, trailing Demerara 46 runs after dismissing Demerara for 148.

Skipper Bhaskar Yadram had top-scored with another aggressive knock of 43 while his opposite number Kevin Sinclair took 4-17 for Berbice.

Sinclair had returned to stroke 58 for his side while left-arm spinner Ashmead Nedd kept his side in the hunt with 4-45. Kevlon Anderson is unbeaten on 16 and will look to push his side to first innings honours today, the final day, weather permitting.
