Georgetown Secondary School Zone Finals shifted

Charlestown Secondary School will have to wait another day to play Tucville Secondary in the final of the South Georgetown Zone of the 2017/2018 Guyana Cricket Board/ Demerara Mutual Life Assurance Society Limited/ National Sports Commission/ National Secondary School Cricket League.  The final, which was to be played yesterday, will now take place tomorrow and will trigger a series of Georgetown Zone finals this week.

The contest was originally set for Monday at the Guyana National Industrial Company Ground (GNIC), Woolford Avenue but due to rain over the weekend, the match was postponed to tomorrow at the same ground.

Meanwhile according to officials of the competition, Mae’s Secondary will face North Georgetown Secondary for the East Georgetown title on April 30 while Chase Academy will play Christ Church Secondary in the final for North Georgetown Zone the following day at GNIC if the weather permits.

Charlestown earned themselves a spot in the final with an eight wicket win over North Ruimveldt Multilateral last week at GNIC. North Rumiveldt won the toss and took first strike posting 64 after being bundled out in 12.4 overs of their 25-over quota. Ravi Hanuman bagged a maiden five wicket haul with impressive figures of 5-7 in three overs that included a hat trick. Charlestown then mowed down the target of 69 in 9.2 overs with Raymond Bandhu unbeaten on 46.

Also in the Upper Demerara Zone at Bayroc Ground, Wisburg Secondary defeated New Silvercity Secondary by 99 runs. Wisburg scorched 207 in 17 overs with Delroy Peters hammering 45 as Holland Cambridge dented the assault with a spell of 2-18 in his two overs. In reply, New Silvercity collapsed for 108 in 18.3 overs as Eyan Parnamee bagged 3-18 with Elmont Edward and Ronaldo Fortune chipping in with two wickets a piece.

In Berbice, at the Jain Hind Ground, Port Mourant Secondary flattened Black Bush Secondary in a 145 run massacre. Port Mourant were sent in to bat and raced to 202-6 with Raj Persaud top scoring with 63 that included seven fours and two sixes while Jai Tikia supported with 48. Black Bush, in the chase only managed 57 with Chovesh Atmaran (30) the only batsman to reach double figures with Pawan Ramkehlawan copping 3-8 with Mathew Pottiah and Angelino Ramdial taking two wickets each.  Also in the Ancient County, JC Chandisingh Secondary defeated Corentyne Comprehensive High School by 47 runs at Albion Sports Complex. Winning the toss and batting first JC Chandisingh made 144 with Lucas Arthur top scoring with 35 while Guyana National Under-15 player, Jonathon Rampersaud supported with 20. Corentyne Comprehensive crawled to 98 for 7 off their allotted 30 overs. Horace Gordial top scored with 26.
