East Bank Essequibo Combined Secondary Schools (EBESS) defeated Leguan Secondary School in the Guyana Cricket Board/Demerara Mutual Life Assurance Society/National Sports Commission/National Secondary Schools Cricket League

(GCB/DMLAS/NSC/NSSCL) at Tuschen Ground, East Bank Essequibo by 14 runs yesterday.

EBESS, made up of Parika Salem and Vergenoegen Secondary combined, were restricted to 74 all out in 23 of their allotted 50 overs while Leguan collapsed to 60 all out in 19.1 overs in their reply.

Once again it was Wazim Mohammed who top scored with a blistering 25 while Essequibo Under-15 Inter-County player, Ronaldo Scouten, smacked 20 with 16 extras boosting the total.

Chanvashkar Narine was the wizard with the ball, capturing 6-11 from his seven overs while Kamal Shaw picked up 2-22 from six overs.

In reply, Leguan were crippled by Travis Christian’s 5-19 and Mohammed’s 3-23. Narine top scored with a 30-ball 12 while Vickey Shaw managed only eight with Leguan being gifted 13 extras.

Wakenaam and Bartica Secondary will now team up with Leguan Secondary to form the Essequibo Islands Secondary who will face EBESS later in the week at Tuschen.
