Marian Academy edges GTI

Marian Academy and Presidents’ College recorded wins in the U19 division when the Youth Basketball Guyana (YBG) ‘Regional Conference’ continued Saturday at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall, Homestretch Avenue.

Marian Academy downed Government Technical Institute (GTI) 48-42. Timothy Thompson registered a double-double of 22 points and 12 rebounds.

Jether Harris added 12 points. For GTI, Anton Fileen recorded a game high 29 points.

In another fixture, Presidents’ College dismissed the Bishops’ High 32-21.

Rafael Whittington scored 13 points while Akeem Crandon added six points and 12 rebounds.

For Bishops’ High, Roydon Glasgow scored seven points, while Andre Somrah scored five points and six rebounds.

In the U14 section, St. Rose’s High defeated the Bishops’ High 24-8. Hailie Caesar tallied 10 points and seven rebounds while Chris Perez added six points.

For Bishops’ High, Mathias Arrindel scored six points.    In the final fixture of the division the YBG Combined Team gained a walkover from Chase Academy.

In the girls division, St. Rose’s High mauled Tutorial High 27-5. Ashley Khan netted 12 points and had five rebounds while Ayodele Roach recorded a double-double of 11 points and 15 rebounds.

For Tutorial High, Dennique Ross scored three points. In the second match of the section, Marian Academy defeated School of the Nations’ via walkover.
