Haiti tackle World Cup-bound Argentina

PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti, CMC – French Caribbean side Haiti will provide Lionel Messi’s Argentina with their final home warm-up match before next month’s World Cup in Russia, when the two teams meet on May 29 in Buenos Aires.

Haiti, known as the Grenadiers, are scheduled to arrive in the South American country’s capital on May 22 to begin preparation for the international friendly carded for the Estadio Alberto J. Armando.

Argentina will use the fixture as their farewell before they head to Russia for the June 14 to July 15 showpiece, where they clash with Nigeria, Croatia and debutants Iceland in Group D.

They face Israel in Tel Aviv on June 9, in what will be their last friendly international before the World Cup kicks off.

For Haiti, the match will be their first international of the year. Their most recent outing last November saw them beat United Arab Emirates 1-0 at the Sheikh Khalifa International Stadium in Abu Dhabi.

Haiti are ranked 108th in the FIFA world rankings while Argentina lie fifth.
