Guyana Under-15 player, Mavendra Dindyal dazzled in a rain hit match, as his school team Diamond Secondary, advanced to the next round on first innings points over La Bonne Intention (LBI) Secondary at Lusignan Community Centre on Thursday in the Regional Democratic Council/Lloyd Britton/Devcon Construction/Regional Executive Officer Region Four Inter Secondary Schools Knockout Cricket Tournament.
Following a delayed start due to the team’s late arrival, Diamond’s skipper Philip McTurk, made the correct call when the toss was spun and invited LBI to bat. LBI was bundled out for a dismal 71 in 18 overs. In reply, Diamond found themselves 97-3 off 20 overs at the close of play.
Ravindra Samaroo was dropped first ball off of McTurk, but failed to capitalize after he departed five balls later to a brilliant stumping by Dindyal. Brian Jagmohan and Rakesh Persaud added 25, before Persaud witnessed the departure of three more batsmen with the 50 yet to come.
