Volleyball: Castrol, Vanguard to square off in final

Castrol and Vanguard Volleyball Clubs will square off in the final of the Demerara ‘B’ division volleyball tournament today at the National Gymnasium after both clubs exercised their superiority yesterday. 

 Vanguard in the first match of the tournament, came from two sets down to defeat Glasgow Rangers of Linden in a thrilling encounter. 

 Rangers were well on their way to muster an upset by taking the first two sets 25-18, 26-26. Vanguard, however, spiked their way back into the contest with a 25 -16 third set win after which they copped the fourth and fifth sets 25-23, 15-11 to claim a gruelling 3-2 victory. 

 Rangers were once again on the losing side after they went down to Castrol 25-18, 25-7, 25-18 to surrender their second match of the day.

 The final match of the day presented a trailer of the final with Castrol taking the psychological edge by serving their way to a 3-1 over their counterparts. 

 Castrol came out gunning and slammed their way to 25-13 first set win before Vanguard bounced back by winning the second set 25-20. Castrol however, closed out the match by clinching the third and fourth sets 25-19, 25-19 ahead of today’s final.
