No.5 made light work of Soccer City 5-0, when the 2nd Annual GT Beer 8 A-side Football Championship continued on Sunday at the All Saints ground, New Amsterdam [NA].
It was a shooting gallery for the No.5 unit, who recorded four goals from outside the penalty area. Kevin Cottoy commenced the rout uncorking a powerful strike from 21 yards outside the area into the back of the net in the 11th minute.
The lead increased to 2-0 in the 17th minute, as Seon Watts scored, blasting a long-range right-foot strike past the hapless custodian.
Jamal Joseph was next to take aim at the wood-work, thumping his effort into the roof of the goal in the 26th minute to make it 3-0.
Further misery was heaped onto the Soccer City unit, as Akeemo Watts placed his effort into the far corner from outside the box in the 47th minute.
Paul McDonald then completed the result in the 60th+6 minute, racing onto a through pass, before slotting past the advancing goalkeeper.
The tournament resumes on Friday at the same venue with another round of matches.
