Linden for 26 rounds of professional boxing

Professional boxing returns to the Mining Town four days before Boxing Day with some heavy hitters.

According to news reaching this daily, the card dubbed ‘Guyana versus Barbados’ will be staged on December 22 at Xcitenet on Mavis Avenue in Amelia’s Ward.

The card is scheduled to feature former WBC CABOFE and national champions, Kwesi ‘Assassin’ Jones and Edmond ‘Wonder Boy’ DeClou along with some young and upcoming talent.

Next week’s card will however be headlined by Barbadian, Gordel ‘The Judge’ Roberts and the slick Orlon ‘Pocket Rocket’ Rogers in a 10-round junior lightweight affair.

The main supporting bout features the wily Cleveland Fraser of Barbados matching gloves with the heavy hitting Jones, the local light heavyweight ruler in a six-round contest.

Also in a six-round bout, the skilful DeClou will take on brawler, James Walcott in the middleweight class.

Organizers have also pit debutant Ricardo Blackman Jr. against the exciting Joel Williamson who will be competing in a professional ring for just the second time in his career. Blackman and Williamson will face off in a super bantamweight clash  scheduled for four rounds.

The contract signing is planned for Wednesday at the Len’s Building in MacKenzie from 14:00hrs.

Admission for the fixture is listed at $1000 and bell time is scheduled for 19:00hrs.
