Speed demons, Kristian Jeffrey and Collin Daley Jr. capped the local competitive racing season on Sunday during the second KFC Mega Cup Grand Prix by rewriting lap records. In front of an animated crowd at GT Motorsports on Albert Street, the Jamaican Daly and Jeffrey lived up the hype as the two fastest go-kart racers in the Region.

Jeffrey’s daredevilry talents were on full display after he broke the lap record in the X30 125cc senior while Daley Jr. shattered the record in the Shifter class. Both records were recorded during the qualifiers. The Jamaican clocked the fastest time of the day, 30.332s, to qualify on pole in the Shifter class, while Jeffrey’s best time was 31.138 which placed him at the top of the grid in the X30 125cc senior division. Both drivers, along with Guyana’s F4 driver Calvin Ming and Stefan Jeffrey, put on a great show for fans, especially in the Shifter segment.

Ming won the 16-lap Shifter final, ahead of Daley Jr. in what turned out to be an exhibition contest after the Jeffreys encountered troubles on the track and had to withdraw.  K. Jeffrey won the 125cc Senior final (15 laps), out driving a game Steven Nobrega, who held off a stiff challenge from Daley Jr. and Ming, who finished third and fourth.

Mikhail Persaud continued to make his name, topping the 125cc Junior division (15 laps), ahead of Rayden Persaud and Zachery Persaud, while Zachary Persaud emerged the leading driver in the Easy Cup Rookie with Shahab Ghani and Brian Woolford settling for second and third respectively.

Meanwhile, Jeremy Ten Pow won the 60cc Kids Cup, out karting Paige Mendonca and Justin Ten Pow, while Nicholas Sawh, Ben Phang and Caleb Paul finished first, second and third in the action-packed 60cc Baby Cup.

From the compilation of points from the two KFC Mega Cup Grand Prix events, the following drivers were announced as overall champion of their respective category:

Mikhail Persaud (43 points) – 125cc Junior

Steven Nobrega (36 points) – 125cc Senior
