Turbo football champs collect trophy

Northern Rangers, the newly crowned Turbo Knockout Football Champion, was officially presented with their prizes yesterday during a presentation ceremony at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue.

The Kitty-based outfit was crowned the Turbo Knockout Football Champion, upsetting highly favoured Georgetown Football Club [GFC] 2-1 in the finale at the same venue on December 12th.

Nigel Denny, team representative collected the winners’ trophy and $800,000. On the other hand, GFC received $400,000 and the runner-up accolade.

Meanwhile, Mahaica pocketed $200,000 and a trophy for clinching the third position, while Santos walked away with $100,000 and the corresponding accolade.

On the individual side, Stephon Reynolds of Northern Rangers copped the Most Valuable Player [MVP] award, while GFC’s Ronel McClean pocketed the Best Goalkeeper award.

Similarly, Manasseh Primo of disqualified Guyana Police Force [GPF] collected the Highest Goal Scorer title with five conversions.
