Police recruit charged with wounding fellow trainee

A police rank in training was yesterday charged with wounding a fellow trainee.

David Andrews, 22, was read a charge which alleged that on November 12th, 2018, at the Felix Austin Police College, he unlawfully wounded officer 25007 Winston Dummett.

Andrews, who was read the charge by acting Chief Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus in Georgetown, pleaded not guilty.

The court then heard from Police Prosecutor Shellon Daniels that the complainant no longer wished to proceed with the charge. However, when asked by the magistrate if he wished to proceed with the matter, Dummett stated that he would proceed with it.

The prosecutor subsequently made no objection to bail being granted to Andrews.

Andrews was asked to post $20,000 bail for his release and the case was adjourned until February 5th.
