GPF/FAPC mini athletics meet on today

The Guyana Police Force, Felix Austin and Richard Faikal Police Colleges will meet head-to-head today for the first ever mini athletics meet which will be hosted by the Georgetown Branch of the Training Schools.

At a simple but significant ceremony yesterday in the Deputy Commissioner, Administration’s office, proprietor of Trophy Stall, Ramesh Sunich, donated the trophies and medals.

Sunich noted that the police supports his business and that it was only fitting for him to give back.

In accepting the donation, Deputy Commissioner, Administration, Paul Williams, DSM, thanked Sunich for the timely and kind gesture.

He revealed that today’s activity will coincide with the GPF’s quarterly fitness assessment of its members.

The event will see trainees from the colleges vying for bragging rights and an intense competition is expected for this inaugural meet.

Some of the events on today are the 100 and 200m sprints, the 800 and 1500m and the field events, shot putt, discus and javelin.
