UGBC Elites, Berbice’s newest club, gets support from BCB, RHTYSC

The University of Guyana’s Berbice Campus Elites cricket team is the newest member to join the sport and have garnered support from the Berbice Cricket Board (BCB) and the Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club.

The team, which consists of students and staff from the Tain campus has received the blessings of BCB President, Hilbert Foster who expressed his delight in the team being the newest addition to the second-division level and anticipated a strong performance in upcoming tournaments.

Foster encouraged the team to aim high and focus on what can be accomplished through teamwork while suggesting that the balance of academics and recreation is integral towards creating rounded individuals.

The Rose Hall Town Club, to which Foster also serves as Secretary/CEO, gave the team a head start in their preparations for competitions when the season resumes as they handed over a quantity of batting pads, wicket keeping gloves and pads, scorebooks, stumps and balls.

Public Relations Officer of the BCB, Simon Naidu explained that the team has the potential of doing well in the local tournaments and will definitely see the support of the BCB while signaling the peaking interest in cricket in the Ancient County after seeing a number of once dormant clubs being revived.
