Insider sneak peek: PNC, PPP campaign strategies

-I’ve been telling you! Staying B.A.M.N

The seven decades-long political behemoths to stalk this once-pristine Guyana land – as political parties – have begun, in earnest, their election strategies to retain or reclaim governmental dominion over us.

The People’s National Congress (PNC) and People’s Progressive Party (PPP) bequeathed to our hapless working –class by Burnham and Jagan, now have an added powerful incentive to wage political warfare over: – oil and gas. (I wrote “working-class” because, Frankly Speaking, the more upper classes knew how to become a part of the respective political organisations. From religious organisations to Private Sector interests to ethnic-specific representatives to elite fraternities, the local bourgeois found ways to embed themselves into power (covertly). The ordinary political tribesmen bore their sufferings and voted for their own for decades.

Now as the high-stakes, jubilee, oil-and-gas elections beckon, planning has long started, viciously fueled by last December’s vote in the House.

The PNC war room

It’s up to you readers – both my “regulars” and “occasionals” or newcomers – to decide how much of the following account(s) you wish to believe. All I’ll assure you is that in a gathering of twenty/thirty “insiders”, there is bound to be leaks – breaches of confidence and privacy.

The PNC election-strategy sessions are held at Congress Place, in private homes, on Main Street, Vlissengen Road etc. A summary of one recent session: (a) the use of the incumbency has been great so far – outreaches, land allocations, ministerial visits to the furthest hinterland communities, speeding up, fast-forwarding infrastructural development amongst the faithful base at Bartica, Linden, WCB and three Essequibo Coast villages; (b) both our comrades in New York and Florida and Hammie, Oscar and Yvonne are doing fine replaying, on social media and in local papers, alleged PPP atrocities of the past.

(c) There was heated debate about whether to expend resources on inquiries at this time or whether to utilise same pursuing cases made by SARA and SOCU; no agreement arrived at yet. (d) Same on the definitive use of Roger Khan’s return – entice him or ignore him? It was held that he can say whatever he wishes; evidence will be the thing!

(e) His Excellency is to advise how much of his “Troubles” period to highlight. If not handled adroitly Jagdeo can massage that. (f) Can we really depend on Basil alone to utilise the courts and litigation daily?

(g) The PM is doing well using his DPI to make NCN, Chronicle and DPI spread our word, in support of the Presidency’s more sophisticated communication outfit. (h) The big question remains: what do we do about the AFC’s contribution to our elections battle? Jagdeo has already annihilated them and one new party will erode their remaining pretenders.

Matters deferred for the closed-door attention of His Excellency the Leader and his Inner War Room Caucus included: the Citizenship Department’s info; funding from one oil company; possible PR impact of corrupt practices by government-associated “big ones” and the issue of GECOM and rigging. What an agenda for the incumbents planning to remain and retain. What of the PPP?

The PPP Situation Room

A no-nonsense General Secretary laid out non-negotiable ground-rules: I’m not replacing Irfaan with Frank (only barring illness); GECOM’s composition is important but Fenty the middle-of-the-road SN columnist knows what he writes – it’s Lowenfield’s Secretariat’s every move we have to monitor; I’m not revealing the identities of our new, prominent Afro-supporters until I deem it strategic.

The Situation Room session also discussed for implementation: constant group monitoring of our strength in specific regions – are the comrades present and registered?

It’s going to be close but numbers show we can easily prevail. Lenox Shuman still can’t reveal his intention – before or after the polls. But he is realistic, not stupid. Nothing to fear from Roger’s return. (I’ll discuss that in-camera.)

Anil is having serious fun embarrassing Williams. What an “AG”! Funding from the diaspora is assured – they smelling “oil” too. Gail has great news concerning five AFC cross-overs and their insider info to be used strategically at the right time. That’s a God-send along with Neemakharam Nagamootoo. Left back for Inner-Caucus deliberations were the public displays of the American Ambassador and news from our/PPP American Lobbyist firm in Washington.

“Remember our tried and trusted theme comrades. It’s also our call to arms! Oppose, expose, depose!” That session ended.

The murderers will live. Justice?

No need to repeat and repeat my own mantra. Just repetition-for-emphasis here.

The identified killers are mere “suspects” in court. Until proven guilty by law. Reportedly, one shot the young lady dead because she saw his face. Guyana has signed on to a UN Convention: No Capital execution in Guyana. His Excellency is against the death penalty. Like the Church. They use prayers.

Robbers, bandits, murderers, killers, the convicted all know one solid fact: they killed, but they will live. What should we, the law-abiding, do?

Bound to remain! B.A.M.N!

BAMN means “By Any Means Necessary”! I voted for the Coalition in 2015. Only because I had had it with Dr Jagdeo. Now I have grave doubts about the Coalition’s collective behaviour. I won’t vote Irfaan’s PPP. Perhaps I just won’t vote(?)

His Excellency has fortified his Office and State House. There are numerous projects to be completed by him! No moving on, no moving away any time soon. Stay! By any means.

Means include: constitutional eye-pass; litigation; delays in processing certain transactions; use of tax-payers dollars for partisan ends; “Total National Defence” exercises to dampen anti-government demonstrations; ignoring court decision or complying whenever; following our Constitution conveniently; shoring up the loyal base with government handouts; delaying the proclamation of a polling date and “keeping-in-touch” with GECOM. Amongst other necessary “means”.

Only loyal party tribalists will condone such incumbency bullyism. How similar to what they accused Bharrat of! Oh for competent alternatives.

Ponder – just these three…

1. The powerful American President can pardon somebody already in jail. Our Guyanese President can prevent someone going to jail. Judge or no judge!

2. WPA loner Dr David Hinds will campaign for the PNC! History turned upon its head?

3. Will the two who were to join Charrandass’ vote be scared to “come out” at election time?

’Til next week!
