East Coast businessman shot and robbed in Port Mourant

A businessman from East Coast Demerara was yesterday robbed and shot while transacting business in Port Mourant, Corentyne.

Commander of B Division, Paul Langevine yesterday said that one person was arrested.

According to information gathered, the businessman, Abdool Hack, 64, travelled to Babu John, Port Mourant to purchase cattle when he was attacked by a lone gunman.

The gunman reportedly robbed the businessman of $600,000 in cash and shot him once in his left leg before escaping.

Hack was rushed to the Port Mourant Hospital and then transferred to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital where he has since been admitted in a stable condition.
